Fr Danai Penollar, BSc, STB, STL, was ordained for the Archdiocese of Sydney in 2007. He is currently Parish Administrator of Mary Immaculate Bossley Park and used to serve as Assistant Director of the Liturgy Office. He served as Assistant Priest of the four parishes of Sydney Harbour North, St Mary’s Cathedral, Darlinghurst, Parish Priest at Caringbah, Archdiocesan Master of Ceremonies, Assistant Director of Vocations, and Hospital Chaplain at St Vincent’s, RPA, and Fairfield. He was a Sydney Director then National Director of the Guild of St Stephen training Acolytes and Altar Servers. Presently, he occasionally teaches the Liturgy Office courses for Acolytes and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. He provides workshops for lay Hospital Chaplains on what the laity can do in the “Last Rites” when a Priest is delayed or unable to attend to a dying patient.

His research for the MTh component of the STL was a study of theological theodicy and insights from the Rites of Penance, Anointing of the Sick, and Viaticum. He has a major and a submajor in Theology and Liturgical Studies in the BA(Phil)/BTh component of the STB.
Fr Danai conducts retreats helping the lay faithful to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. In 2003, he took part in the ICEL translation of the Collects of Sundays in Ordinary Time and the Solemnities of the Lord. In 2010/2011, he was a proof reader for the CTS publication of the Roman Missal. He is an occasional proof reader of liturgical books to be published by the Society of St Paul.
